I experienced four seasons in one day on my journey today. The leg from Belorado to San Juan de Ortega “enjoyed” sleet, rain, sun and a lot of wind. It was very changeable and so people made the decision to wear a rain poncho or backpack cover throughout the day. The effect was to have what looked like a procession of turtles going down the trail throughout the day. A few of the images give some idea of what I experienced
I have now left Rioja and am walking towards Burgos in the region of Castile e Leon. I have a rest day in Burgos on Saturday – laundry, essential repairs and some sightseeing are the order of the day. (As Daphne explained in response to an earlier comment – it will be a day spent in quiet contemplation!) Burgos also marks the end of the first third of my journey. I think I can start to feel the physical changes. Certainly, consecutive 25km days hold less apprehension for me. The Meseta beyond Burgos brings the next phase of the journey – the emotional part.
Thank you to all who have chosen to follow my journey.
Buen Camino !
