Today is the day. I arrive in Santiago later today on the 35th day of walking. It’s been approximately 800km across northern Spain and it’s about to come to an end. It’s made doubly exciting because Daphne has joined me and we will walk in together.
I’m not sure what to expect today, will the miles fly past, will the day go more slowly? What happens when we get to Santiago? One thing is for certain we will be stopping at the “1000 metre bar” to join some fellow pilgrims for a final bout of contemplation before we walk through the city gates and ultimately into the plaza.
I have to admit to being nervous about today and I haven’t really begun to process what has been achieved and the friendships made.
The last 4 days have been trying at times with all the new pilgrims, but I think that only reinforces how fortunate I have been to have had the time to walk the whole journey. The number of times I have said Buen Camino and wished people well for their journey.
Buen Camino

An amazing achievement and how wonderful you can share your triumphant entry into Santiago with Daphne. Savour every moment and take your time to enjoy these last precious moments on what has been a momentous journey for you and your fellow peregrinos. Well done 👍 you must be feeling so many emotions but hopefully the overriding one will be pride in your pilgrimage and joy at your achievement. Well done! Xx
